Just as our Rehearsals were recommencing after our Summer break, we received an invitation to entertain shoppers as part of LiverpoolONE ‘s “Tickling the Ivories” programme.
The weather was brilliant and the atmosphere was fantastic, with the Tour of Britain Cycle race beginning a few yards away.
Many shoppers stopped to listen or ask for further information about our society and we enjoyed every minute of the experience.
And we were also joined by some potential new members.
Some passing Italians, Piero and Marcello from Naples were visiting their friends, Fabrizio, a hydrographer from Rome who works on Merseyside, and Milanese Giacomo from the University of Liverpool.
They were delighted to hear Verdi’s much loved Chorus of Hebrew Slaves from “Nabucco” and joined us in the Brindisi from “La Traviata”.
It was good to show the world that the Mersey Sound is not just the Beatles!
Thanks to Anne Dickenson, our Acompanist!
