Orlofsky's Ball

Opera Viva invites you to an Easter Double Opera Special Event.

We start with the well loved one act opera, “Cavalleria Rusticana” the story of a tragic love tangle in a Sicilian village. With its vivid characters and glorious music, including the gorgeous “Easter Hymn”, this is an ideal chance for those who already love opera and those who would like to know more about it.

The second half takes us to “Prince Orlofsky’s Ball”, set in Vienna when the Strauss family were the Waltz Kings.

This specially written entertainment is based on the fabulous party that takes place in Act Two of “Die Fledermaus”. As well as Strauss favourites such as “The Laughing Song”, “Brother Mine” and, of course, “Champagne”, there will be lively contributions from other party scenes by composers such as Offenbach, Lehar, Sullivan and Verdi.

We sing in English and present fully costumed and staged performances in intimate venues, so the action and emotions, the tears and the laughter are all clear.

No need to travel or dress up – we bring opera to you.
